While an official UK recommendation doesn’t exist, most UK-based nutrition bodies recommend around 500mg combined of EPA and DHA, and awesome Omega exceeds this, so yes.

Firstly, we are a 100% plant-based brand as we believe supplements can perform the function they need to and be plant based, which is often a naturally, more sustainable practice. With omega 3 oil, this is often from fish, but fish oil production puts huge stress on ocean anchovy stock. Doing this disrupts the natural fish food chain in our oceans, something which caused the cod crisis in the North Sea many years ago. 10 million tonnes of anchovies were caught in our oceans or farmed last year, we don’t want to be part of that food chain disruption – which is an eighth of all fish caught globally. We want to protect our natural food system where possible, as this is responsible business practice, thus we opt for a plant-based omega 3.

There are 3 reasons we have opted to use capsules over soft gels, which are traditionally used in oil-based supplements. Firstly, using capsules over a soft gel allows us to fill the product with more oil, giving you a higher dose per tablet. Secondly, using capsules minimises manufacturing waste, as up to 40% of a soft gel can be wasted in manufacturing, whereas none is wasted using capsules because it’s a direct, non-pressurised filling process. And thirdly, 20-30% of a soft gel contains plasticizers which many find off putting and increase the overall cost of a soft gel, so using a capsule saves us, and you, increased cost.

Due to this product being fish free, your breath will be fish free too!

Yes, this is a high grade algae-based EPA and DHA supplement encased in a vegan friendly capsule. Do compare our dosage against competitors, as ours is often double the strength, and many plant based omega 3 supplements only contain DHA, which is far from optimal.
